Whose City:  Designing San Diego-Tijuana’s Urban Future”, with co-hosts Lawrence Herzog and Howard Blackson

Whose City?  Designing San Diego-Tijuana’s Urban Future

Cities are in the midst of a moment of significant transformation in the U.S., and across the planet.  The digital revolution, social media, smart vehicles, dock-less transport, ride sharing, on-line rental platforms and other new technologies are altering the way city dwellers move around, inhabit, work and think about their urban lifestyles.

“Whose City?” will tackle the critical issues facing San Diego, through the lens of the physical environment, neighborhoods, buildings, streets, public spaces, traffic circulation, land use, community planning, and future development projects.  The goal is to tackle many of the critical issues that impact every-day San Diegans– issues that cut across economy, environment, land, property, transit and neighborhood.  We also plan to discuss San Diego-Tijuana in the context of trends impacting cities both nationally and internationally.

The podcast will feature two local urban policy, planning and design experts, Howard Blackson, urban design director at AVRP Skyport, and Larry Herzog, Professor and Coordinator of the Graduate Program in City Planning at SDSU.

Each podcast episode is 30 minutes in length.  The first half will be a discussion between the hosts about a selected topic, followed by an in-studio 15-minute interview with a chosen expert on that topic.
